Witch's Tea

I got this idea a year ago ... for a fun mother, daughter DINNER date ... I had lots of grand schemes in my head that didn't happen . . . the month was so busy I almost didn't do it . . . but I had already told my girls and I really wanted to, so grand or not  I tried to keep it simple, not invite everyone on my list, and just do it!  I let them each invite 3 friends from their church class and ...

This is just a 1/4 of the invitation that was on a cat head shape.   I had the thought to go ask a friend if she had any glass containers - she did!!!   They added to my effect!
We had an easy ice cream topping Bar with gross names the girls thought up!  We put them in a variety of glass containers which helped it look like a witches kitchen!
We did a sticker/coloring craft as we waited for people to arrive and while I took pictures next to our coffin of the girls with their moms who also dressed up!
We split up for a treasure hunt outside!

The treasure box with candy for the girls and a witch's shoes kitchen hand towel for the moms!

The girls got to take turns pouring in items for the Witch's Brew!  They loved that part!

Then we went downstairs and told a "scary" story with things to pass around and touch in the "dark".  :)

Then we had simple cupcakes and got to pick whatever toppings they wanted for sundaes!

It wasn't what I had first envisioned so that was hard for me mentally to get over - and we had to do it as an after school activity instead of in the evening, but it was fun and at the end - I think all the girls had a great time, my girls did!  :)

Couples Party

Since D didn't work a haunted house this year - I thought it would be fun to have some other adults over for a costume party!  I found these ribbon around a finger invitations on clearance that I knew D would like!

We were Mona Lisa and Bob Ross (the painter that used to be on PBS, painting "happy" trees!)
D made the punch and had fun decorating, even the bathroom.   I was happy with my pumpkins and skeleton decor . . . . he brought in a casket and dental room stuff he's used in a haunt!

I asked everyone to bring something to share!  :)

OUCH!

First time I used one of these . . .
I was distracted and sliced the side tip of my right thumb off!
Yes, it hurt!  And took forever to stop bleeding!!!
I ended up going to the urgent care center where it opened back up and bleed and hurt!!!  They put some surgical adhesive to it (the sliver stuff below).  It made like a scab (so I'm not to remove it!)  And they covered it up.   It throbbed for about 12 hours!  Then just became a pain to cover up while showering or cleaning!   Who knew how hard it was to do things without using your thumb!   Try zipping up your pants, using scissors, etc!

Zoo Trick or Treating

Dancing!!!  Yes I'm wearing David's pants that he altered into bell bottoms years ago while we were dating!

We had fun walking around the zoo together!!!

one Saturday morning ...

Because it started to rain the night before, the manager of this farm told us we could come back in the morning without paying again!!!   Score!!!

  the "hayride"
I think this is 8 acres!   Nice size maze!!!

There was a riddle to solve (symbols = letters) Which helped us know when we hadn't made it all over the maze since we hadn't found all the letters!

They liked to hide and jump out and scare the others.  Friday night, it freaked Ak out, but in the daylight, she joined in!

This farm turned out to be well worth the $7 a person splurge!
