Within the 2nd week

I got a call from the principal at 12:35 pm telling me that B had been leaping in gym class and fell.  (She thought she was going to hit her head she said so she stuck out her hand/arm.)  They thought she broke her arm but asked if I could come to the school to look.   ???me???  I wouldn't know more then they would - but luckily I was with my orthopedic surgeon friend's wife and she came with me!!!  She was able to get ahold of her husband and he met us at his office (without us having to wait in the waiting area) - took an extra xray - said it was "broken" (more like "bent" and the Dr. said kids bones are still pliable) and would need a cast.  He set it and we went home.  Got there before 2 pm.  Less than an hour an a half between the call and back home.  AMAZING!!!!  I felt blessed!   D was a little upset that I didn't call him and interrupt his class to let him know - but  it all happened so fast and I emailed him as soon as we got home!    She didn't cry at all.   So brave!!!

Wow! Thanks for posting the pictures of the X-rays!! The picture on the right makes it look like everything's fine, from the top view, so GOOD THING they also take a SIDE view! Wow! It is BENT!!! WEIRD! Very weird and strange! I have never heard or seen anything like it! I'm glad it just "bent", and didn't totally and horribly break! How's she doing? I haven't heard! I hope she's healed by now! I totally understand that you didn't call D, since it did indeed all happen very quickly! AND, you didn't have a cell phone to be able to just pull out of your pocket to call him. You were with B. I hope D understood that you totally did your best to take care of your daughter! : ) When my son, B fell back and hit the back of his head, and got a cut requiring medical attention, at E's house, we took him to the hospital, and I was thankful that E was with me, because I spent a lot of time in the lobby, trying to contact K via the pay phone in the lobby, because I was supposed to be picking him up right about the time we were at the hospital, and I wanted him to know why I wasn't there to pick him up. So E was with B when he got 12 staples in the back of his head. I wish I could have been there with him too, but I was worried that K would be upset because I wasn't there to get him. NOW, of course, looking back, I think to myself, "If I could go BACK and do it all over again, I would have let K worry about where I was at, and I wouldn't have called him, and I would have been in the room with B when he got his staples put in his head -- even though I wouldn't have been able to watch it happen, and I probably would have plugged my ears when the staple gun was doing it's thing! But... things happen, and you just make the best decisions you can at the moment. : )
